9 Year Old, What Will Repaired Umbilical Hernia Look Like

It will look like a normal belly button. They are repairing it, not removing it. Since she is a child, i will assume that her belly button is extended and looks like there is a balloon under it? Many doctors will repair the hernia and do their best to make it look "normal" - there is a chance it will be flat. If they do it laproscopically, it might be pulled in.

Please DO NOT give your daughter a complex about her body this young! A plastic surgeon?? Do you think she's going to be a swimsuit model and lose out on jobs because her belly button isn't "perfect"???

Well mine is 30+ years old but it looks like a normal slightly innie belly button, with a very slight scar at the very top, maybe 1/2" long.

And mine was repaired in 1976. Thing shave come a long time sense then. It should look just fine.

It will look better than it does now. It will probably look exactly like a normal belly button. I agree with the response below, that you should not share these worries with your daughter and get her all worked up about her looks at such a young age.

BTW - My belly button has always been kind of weird-looking, since birth, and I've had a pretty good life. It never hindered me.
