8 Yo Experiencing Some Puberty Stuff

My 8 yr old is in the same place other than the pain. She's been having to shave for a yr now and using deodorant is a MUST. Isn't it scary. They're growing up so dang quickly now-a-days!

THat is normal. I have a 10 year old Grandson that smells, (I am not being prejudice) like an Iraq warrior. I tell him they do not wear deodorant & hee will. It is ok. It will end. Good luck

T. im not trying to scare you but i was in the 3rd grade and 8 yrs old when i got my frist cycle and with in a yr i was a size c cup. the school nurse had to call my mom b/c i started in my math class and thought i was going to die so i would tell you daughter what to expect just in case.

MY DAUGHTER WAS EXPERIENCING ALL THE SAME THINGS AT HER AGE. SHE'S 16+NOW. JUST DEAL WITH EACH THING ONE AT A TIME.WEARING SOME DEODERANT ISN'T A BIG THING, AND THERE ARE EVEN BRANDS OUT THERE FOR PRE-TEEN + TEENS. AND A LITTLE TYLENOL OR ADVIL/MOTRIN GOES A LONG WAY.

Oh puberty what a wonderful time of life....NOT! My oldest daughter started all of this wonderful change when she was in 2nd grade. SHe is now in 4th, has to shave her arm pits, and take shots every 28 days to stop her period.
I have both of my girls washing everynight, and using deoderant every morning.
If you're concerned about her growing up faster then you think she should, check with you peditrician, thats how I found out.

Actually it is completely normal for her to be going through pub at this age...Pub actually can start at the age of 7yrs...I just read something on this a few days ago...If you are concerned, speak with your ped, and I would also advise cutting back on the store bought meat...I know that ounds funny, but a lady I spoke with has a 8yrs, and she is getting hair already, and her ped, advised her to lay off the hormones in meat and cheeses....Let me know...

I don't think this is unusual! Sounds to me like your daughter is growing up! I say, check with your doctor first of course, get her some Teen Spirit deodarant. My friend has a nine year old who just recently got introduced to the dreaded training bra. It's better to do these things for her now, before she starts getting made fun of at school. After all, kids can be very cruel. Like I said, I would check with your doc, but I think it's normal now a days to have children growing up much faster than we all did!! I didn't wear a training bra until I was 12, so that goes to show you how different girls are today! Good luck with your "young lady".

Yes I have, more than once.

Both my mother and myself started out peroids at age 9, and my oldest daughter was 10. She was having all the effects for about 1 year prior to it actually starting. My second child, now age 12 had all the "effects" of being a woman, except for a period. I, like you was alarmed with my first daughter, but the doctor assured me it was natural and genetic.

One of my friends got her first period around 9 years old. She did develop a little early, but healthy. I think there are a lot of theories around about the average age of puberty getting earlier and earlier, everything from hormones in meat and dairy to soy to environmental chemicals. Maybe everything plays a part in it. I don't know that this, in and of itself, indicates a problem though. If she's unhealthy in other ways it might be a symptom of another issue. I would be wary of any kind of gyno exam unless you do believe she has a problem, though. That can be very traumatic so young.

My daughter needed deodorant at a very young age as well. It surprised me because I didn't "bloom" until I was older. She didn't get her period until much later though because she was/is a runner (cross country and track). I would make sure she has deodorant:) Good luck with your daughter.

Hi, there. Yes, I have experienced this personally. I got my period at 9 years old, the end of third grade. It is not unsual. If your daughter is showing all these other signs and complaining of pelvic and lower back pain, her body may be getting ready for menstruation. Make sure she is wearing deodorant because you don't want her to be teased. Get a calendar and keep track of when she is complaining of the pain. Also, have you talked to her about her body and the changes it will eventually take? Do this in advance so she is not alarmed. My Mom did and I am very thankful for that! Once my period started, she let my teacher know so that I was allowed to make extra trips to the bathroom and my teacher would understand why. Hope this helps you. Also, my niece just turnd 9 in July and she has been spotting for a year now.

My daughter was 9 1/2, when she started experiencing these problems. I showed her how to use deoderant, and the pains in her abdomen and back, unfortunatly means her period is getting ready to begin. Thats exactly what happened to my daughter. I use to give her a tylenol and a heating pad and it seemed to work for her. I sat her down and talked to her about what was going to happen next. She was a little scared, but atleast she was ready for it. As far as the hair on her legs, I didn't let her shave them until the summer that she was 10. I showed her how to do that to and explained to her she had to be very careful with the razor. Yes, it scary, but some girls mature quicker than others. Mine even has bigger boobs than me and shes 11 now. Give it a try and let me know what happens, and good luck!

Yes my daughter is 10 and she has been going through the puberty symptoms since about 7 and a half. She has always been mature physically wise. So when all this started it was no great shock to me. Though I would have gladly waited until she was 13 or 21 lol. But we can't hold these things back. Just try not to draw too much attention to it or make it too big of a deal, because then you will make her self concience (sorry spelling) and remember even though her body is developing early doesn't mean her mind or emotions are ready for this change.

I started my Period when I was 9. My sisters were the same way. We all started earlier than most other girls did. Of course our mother hadn't me anything about it until I came home bleeding... I'm sure your daughter feels weird about her changing body, so talk to her about it. It is normal now for girls to start puberty at that age.

I am so glad that you posed this question because I was about to write one just like it. My daughter is going to be 6 in October and she often has underarm odor. I thought this was very peculiar since I had heard that those sorts of "smells" do not develop until puberty (I do not remember needing deodorant until I had gotten my period at 12).

I'd love to see what other moms have to say about this. I am thinking of taking my daughter to the doctor about this but if it is a normal thing, I will let it be.

Hi T., and Welcome. Please talk to your doctor her pain could be more than prepuberty. Sometime lower abd and lower back are signs of UTI or kidney infections, this is not always accompanied by a fever, frequent urination, foul odors and sudden urges. I have in the pas thought that i was having cramps w/ lowe back pain however was not mensturating and after s/w my Dr. found out that I had a UTI that almost made its way to my Kidneys. I had these symptoms for a few weeks. And in response to your other posting, find other mothers in your area tat would be willing to help w/ car pooling for activities and find activities that both kids will enjoy. My daughter is a cheerleader and my son loves wrestling so ,she was on the wrestling cheerleading squad.I registered them together so we got a family discount. I'm not sure what area your in but in our area this works w/ most sports and the soccor teams here are coed. Good Luck!
OH YEAH and as for the EX FREQUENTLY remind him these favors are NOT for you they are his children too and it is selfish of him to not want to share to parenting responsabilities.
