Hello,

I would like to know what other moms are doing for their 7 month old babies feedings. My son is 8, so it's been so long that I don't remember what I was doing with him at this age.
I want to know how often you nurse your baby and how often and how much and what food level your baby eats.
My daughter nurses in the morning after waking up and then takes a morning nap and nurses again. 3 hours later, another nursing then 1 hour later 1/2 container of 1st food fruit or veggie, sometimes 1/2 container of baby yogurt.
3 hours later another snursing then 1 hour after either 1/2 container of veggie/mixed with cereal or about 3T of cereal mixed with 1-2 oz formula. Then 2 hours later another nursing and off to bed until morning.
Ok...now that I have run through her feedings, I would like to know what others do different. I am going to start working in another feeding of food in the early part of the day. I think I could increase the amount of food she is getting, but I don't want to overfeed her and have her throwing it up, that is what was happening.
She is in the 75th percentile for her age..so she is getting what she needs. I know that eventually I will cut back more on nursing, but not sure when that is...I can't remember. I know that I was down to 2 nursings a day with my son around him turing 1..then I stopped nursing. I plan to nurse until my daughter is 1, like I did with my son. If anyone could let me know what they are doing with cutting back on nursing as well...when that happens...that would be helpful. Well thanks in advance!!

What can I do next?

Hi:

I have a 7 month old son and here is his feeding schedule: Chase wakes up at 6:30 AM and has 5 oz of formula and 1 4 oz. jar of fruit with rice or oat cereal.. at 10 AM he just has 6-7 oz of formula.. at 1:30 PM he has 6-8 oz of food (includes meat, veggies, and fruit) and 5 oz of formula.... 4 PM just formula-again 6-7 oz, and finally dinner which is a repeat of his 1:30 PM feeding. At his 6 month check up, his dr. indicated that he should be eating solids at this point 3x per day.

Hope this helps!

I think every baby is on his/her own feeding schedule so you shouldn't necessarily "do" what others are doing. The best advice is to ask your pediatrician.

My six month old daughter does both formula and breastfeeding. She wakes up and I try to feed her a little solids (Gerber bannanas, peaches, etc). She'll then have about 6-8 oz. of my breast milk (which has been pumped so that's why I know how much she's getting. She'll take a nap and then wake up and have a 6oz bottle of formula. This cycle continues throughout the day, totalling to about 30oz of formula/breast milk by bed time. I try and feed her solids 3 times a day but she doesn't eat much. I think it all depends on the baby...

Hi.
My daughter is bottle fed, not nursed, but the basic schedule is the same. Try to feed her around your normal eating schedule. Also offer the food before the nursing.

Ex. 7:00a - breakfast - offer a small dish of oatmeal or rice cereal with veggie or fruit. perhaps some yogurt. a little bit later nurse.

Around lunch time - offer some veggies and fruits. Perhaps some snacks. Does she situp? You could try some cheerios/gerber melts. Nurse

Around dinner time - 5:00 or so. offer more veggies/meats if she's started them. Nurse.

Bedtime - Nurse.

The goal is to get her onto a table foods feeding that matches your table food schedule. The more table food she takes in, the less she'll nurse. Also, don't force her to eat. If she starts spitting out food, or pushes it away, she'd done.

Good luck.

My daughter is almost 16 months and still nurses 8-10 times a day. I feed her when she indicates that she wants to feed.

At 7 months, my daughter wasn't much into solids. Around 7.5 months she would have cereal with fruit and breastmilk for a meal and that was likely her only meal. She was nursing 10-12 times daily. By 8.5 months, she had yogurt in the morning and cereal with fruit and breastmilk for lunch. She would eat dinner with us. She liked chicken, beef etc. At 16 months, she gets 3 meals and an afternoon snack and nurses on demand.
