My son has been eating 5 oz at 7:00am with 3 oz of cereal and half jar of fruit. Then around 11 or so after his first nap he will have another 5oz bottle. 2 pm another 5 oz bottle. Around 4:30-5 pm 5oz bottle. 3 oz cereal and half a jar of vegetable. Then between 1-2 more 5 oz bottles before bedtime depending on how late he stays up. Is this enough? Should he be getting full 4oz jars at breakfast and dinner? Should he be getting another cereal/fruit/veggie feeding for lunch? Thanks for your help. First baby. BTW. Baby weighs 21 pounds. 75th percentile. Thanks

What can I do next?

Remember there was a time without GERBER...back in 1920 no one was looking at how many ounces of food their kid was eating. Feed your child and when your child no longer wants to eat your child is done, no need to make sure you get in that last ounce because "he should be eating so much at a time"...doesnt sound like he is starving so i wouldnt be so concerned

I think you are doing just fine. If he is happy and content then thats great. Every baby eats differently and every parent is different. Some people only do breastmilk or formula the first year even. My daughter is 6 months and has been a snacker with the formula since she was born. She LOVES her food though. she is on stage 2 baby food. She has a 4 oz bottle when she wakes up, then has about an ounce or so of formula mixed with oatmeal for breakfast with a 3 oz bottle. another 2 oz bottle before her morning nap by 9 and then either fruits or veggies for lunch (a whole thing of stage 2) with a 3 oz bottle, another 4 oz bottle in the afternoon before nap and another thing of baby food for supper with a bottle. Then a 6oz bottle before bed and 4-5 oz during the night yet. She is a good eater and only in the 65th percentile for weight. She is very active. So if your little guy seems hungry, feed him more, if he is happy the way he is eating then just keep doing what you are doing. He will let you know when he wants to eat. Both my kids are tall and very active so they eat a lot!! Congrats!!

I think you are fine. My son will be 9 months old tomorrow and is the same percentile as yours was. Since he still gets 4-5 bottles a day depending on the scheduled he will get about a jar and a half of whether fruit, veggies or chicken/beef with veggies etc...I've noticed that he will be full normally and doesn't always drink the full bottle. I know then that he has had enough.

If he seems satisfied with what you are feeding him, there is no reason to give him more. At this age solid food is only supposed to be for "practice" anyway, not to give any significant nutrition. For the first year, breastmilk or formula supplies all the nutrients your baby needs. My 7 month-old is breastfed, so I don't know how many ounces he is eating, but when he is satisfied, he stops. The same goes with whatever else I give him. When he slows down or starts playing with the food instead of eating it, we stop. BTW, I have 4 children and they are all great, so it must be working. :-)

There's no hard and fast rule - if he's willing to eat it, let him. Eating to the point of making oneself sick is a learned behavior - babies will stop eating when they get full. I don't know how much quantity to estimate for you - my kids weren't quite that big. I do know that friends with larger kids (that is to say, larger than mine :) ) have told me that they have to feed their kids more than mine eat - it takes more food to keep up that much growth - growing burns a lot of calories. Expect him to eat more as he gets more mobile, too - he'll be burning more calories at crawling than he was at just sitting, and even more at walking and climbing than he was at crawling.
