I had the same problem when i was her age and had mine taken out. Any advice would be great

My son went through the same thing because he has such bad allergies so I had him tested for sleep apnea. It is very common but also very dangerous if not under control. If nothing else it will give you peace of mind.

Yes for sure have Dr. take a look and it will be better for all of you to do this now, than wait and let it go on!
maybe she will have to have a sleep ap test done as well.
she will so much happier when there is something done about it.

Hi S.,

My oldest daughter had her tonsils and adnoids taken out at the age of six. She is 10 now. She snored constantly and had night terrors as well. Dr.Shea ( ENT in Sarasota ) did the surgery. She also recovered very quickly. I expected a longer and more painful recovery but she bounced back in just a couple of days. Good luck.

That would be the first thing I'd look at. My son had his adenoids out at 16 months and the snoring stopped. Also, acid reflux/GERD is a known culprit for snoring. And, on a more scary/serious but important mention, is sleep apnea. I would DEFINITELY look into the cause. It could be simple, but if it's that bad I'd definitely look to a specialist... ENT, gastroenterologist, sleep specialist, etc.

Hi S. - snoring is not healthy for anyone, especially for a child that is not breathing well in her sleep due to the snoring - it is called sleep apnea.
you should talk to her pediatrician - it does not necessarily means a surgery - there are other treatments for it.
Good luck!

My son had his adenoids and tonsils removed. I would go to a Ear Nose and Throat doctor. I took him to 2 pedis who pumped him full of allergy medicine before I decided to take him to an ENT.
His nose was constantly running and he also snored.

Good Luck,
N.

My son was almost 7 y/o when they decided to have his tonsils and adnoids removed. Besides the history of strep, he snored bad and had night terrors. Along with that he didnt sleep well and wasnt well rested when he awoke in the morning. He didnt like to eat breakfast until an hr or so after waking up. It made it real hard when he had school. Since his surgery, he is a different child. Its been a year and he only has snored a handful of times since, probably b/c he is exhausted.

Good Luck!

you need to have this child seen promptly by a specialist. when she snorts and wakes herself up, this is called sleep apnea. my son had it and his father has it. we had his tonsils removed at 22months because they were too big (genetic thing in his father's family - none of the family bothered to tell me).

sleep apnea can be fatal. have the child seen soon. it may be as easy as having tonsils / adnoids removed.

Hey S.,

My 5 year old son just had his tonsils and adnoids removed in November... I would suggest you see the Ear Nose and Throat Dr's at ALL CHILDREN'S... Then the Children's Surgical Center in Brandon... OH MY GOSH!!! I was totally expecting a miserable kid for atleast 2 weeks... NO! He was totally fine the day after the surgery! NO PAIN! They are AWESOME!!!!
Good Luck!
