Don't despair - the sleepless nights won't last forever. It's perfectly normal for babies to have phases of more night wakings and phases of fewer night wakings throughout the first year or two.
One resource that many moms find helpful is The No-Cry Sleep Solution by Elizabeth Pantley. Also, if you need to keep him in your bed to maximize sleep for both of you, do it. A compromise that might work for you is to put him to sleep in his own bed, and bring him to yours after his first night waking.
