I feel like I have been asking a lot about this birthday my son has coming up but this is the first year we actually have extra money to spend on him. So I need some ideas. We wanted to get him a power wheels for his birthday but after going to a friends house 2 days ago he got on there power wheels and we discovered his legs are a little long for it. My best friend told me about a "go cart" type power wheels that she saw at kid2kid in Arlington but I checked today and that don't have it anymore. Has anyone heard of a power wheels that is made for little bit older kids. He is turning 5 and this is the first year he is actually in his height and weight range he has always been small and that is why we put off buying him one and now he has seemed to grow like a weed this year. He is a very spoiled little boy (by his godfather and grandparents) So he has everything he could ever need or want. So if I can't get the power wheels does anyone have any other ideas for big gifts for a 5 years old. We can't do a trampoline, bounce house, or play house because we are renting and can't ruin the grass. Please help his birthday is in 2 weeks.
A couple of weekends ago my husband and I went out to Trader's Village and they had a whole bunch of smaller go carts for kids about that age and they had some 4 wheelers too!!! They were pretty reasonably priced and they have all kinds of sizes!! Well I hope this helps!! GOOD LUCK!!!

even i was in the same dilemma last month of what to buy my son who was turning 4.Frankly speaking we bought him a power wheels from JCPENNY outlet online hotshot 4*4 for a great deal which says 3-6 yrs old and fits for him good-he could probably drive it for another 2 yrs.We looked for the big ones like the FORD and Yamaha from Toys R us but we didnt want it occupying so much of space from the garage.so if u want to chk the gogarting one i think chk with toys r us they have it.
We also bought GameBOy advanced for my friends Kid who turned 5 last month and he loves it.U can aslo look into Nintendo DS video games would be good for winter times.

Here's a great idea for you, one that I highly recommend, I did this one for my own son and he turned 8 this year, but its great for any birthday, take him to Build a Bear Workshop out at FireWheel in Garland and let him make his own "friend". They have lots of different animals to choose from with a lot of different costumes to dress them and more accessories too. The staff there is great and supervises the whole thing. You can even put sound in your friend with a lot of different sounds, and they espeically cater to "birthday" kids, making a really big deal of the whole thing, something they will not forget, and then they have a very "special" friend that they created. It even comes with a birth certificate and they get you signed up for all kinds of special deals later on. When we went the last time, they had sent us a coupon for $5.00 off and he sure did come in handy. And while we were there, they gave us another coupon for $3.00 for next time. It really is a very neat place, not just for girls, because they have costumes like Spiderman, Superman (which my son got), and right now, you can make "Cody" from Surf's Up (which is what we made here recently). I've got a Power Wheels motorcycle (Harley, red, flame decals) with 2 sets of batteries that is in really good condition to sell. I was getting ready to put it on Craigslist, but if you want to look at it you can. My son has always been very tall (he was off the charts from birth; still is), and he rode this thing from the time he was 3 until he exceeded the weight limit. If he could ride it now he would!!
Check at Sears near the exercise equipment section. We were at the Valley View Sears last week and they had a motorcycle and a truck and a tractor vehicle. They looked like they were for older kids and said ages 4-7 on them.
There is a place called "Splash Island" in South Euless, actually behind South Euless Elementary. It is free, and its a kids water playground thing. I love to take kids there, they think it is the coolest. You have to push a big "yellow" pole like thing in the middle of the playground to turn the water on. So if you drive by it, it might look like it is not working. But you can go press the thing and it will turn on. There is a park and benches, you should drive by it. I am planning a birthday party there next weekend.
I bought a power wheels that looks like a small atv (four wheeler) and my son loves it. You aren't as confined and so the bigger kids can ride it too. (My husband rode it -although I don't suggest that -lol). I think we got our a couple of years ago at toys r us. Honestly, they are fun --but for me a lot of trouble. you really need a park close by to ride them in. Some open space, pretty level. And they need supervised when on them or they will run into something and keep pushing the gas and tear up the gear (my son did anyway! hehe).
Check with Academy. My son is 5 1/2 and tall for his age. He is able to do the "Green Machine" although the new one is actually blue. It even squirts water. The steering is with a left and a right lever. He has a blast with this!
