Dress up stuff, Littlest Pet Shops, Zhu Zhu Pets, bubbles are always a winner, Color Wonder items/artsy items. Have fun!

My daughter was really into princess dress up clothes at that age. She also like Little Pet Shop Toys and Barbie videos and dolls. Also, games like Candy Land, Chutes & Ladders, Don't Break the Ice and Pretty As a Princess were some of her favorites. Clothes that are bigger than her current size would be good also. A size 5 would probably be a good size to buy.

Good luck with you shopping.

My 4.5 year old is a lot like Laurie D's daughter. She's into princess dress up clothes or pretty much ANYTHING Disney Princess. In fact, she loves even getting regular clothes and hair stuff like headbands. Size 5 is a good recommendation. Anything with the princesses or Tinkerbell would be a hit for my girl. My daughter also likes zhu zhu pets and playing board games. Candy Land is her favorite followed by Dominoes (of course hers are Disney Princess themed). She's still into playing with baby dolls too. Arts and crafts...even stickers would thrill her.

Our daughters all time favorite toy was "The Twizzler".. It hangs from a tree and the child makes it spin and spin..

Every child that came to our house LOVED this thing.. It last for about 8 years..

They sell them at Toys are Us and other toy places.. Gets those kids outside playing.

Crafts! My daughter just turned 4 and she got stuff like paint-a-birdhouse, spiral drawing kits, clay art, and her favorite was a garden pinwheel with huge petals that she got to paint. At this age they are getting so creative, it's fun to do with them, and honestly we don't need more toys! Also unless you know if the child is into princesses, ponies, dressup, you could be wasting your money.

Melissa & Doug and Alex make some fun craft kits. Good luck!

Art supplies are always good - construction paper, drawing paper, crayons, washable markers, etc. They're consumable, so even if she has them now, she'll need them in the not-too-distant future. And right now a lot of stores have them on sale because of back-to-school shopping.

Popsicle sticks, glue, a plastic apron, and a cheap shower curtain - in a gift bag.

crafts! walmart and target have some really cute ones.

walmart has Family fun felt jewelry craft kit... so cute! only $7!!! it's in the fabric/craft section.
Target has a make your own pop up book kit... maybe $13? it's in the school supplies section.

my 4 and 5 years old have recently done both of these and had so much fun!
