Hylands Homeopathic gel or tablets work great. Also Camilia Teething works great to help calm them down. My 9 month old was a terrible teether. Good luck. Teething stinks. :)

i am a mom of 5 little girls. I can say i have been through this a few times:) first off, the oragel is not a good idea. One of the ingrediants in it causes some health probs(i was told by my ped) my girls all love chewing on a semi-frozen wet wash cloth. Yes, this could be teething at 4 mos. Some babies do not teeth until later it just depends on the baby. Good luck! Hope i was of some help to you.

Well when my little guy was teething, we used these little tiny pills that are made for babies who are teething called "Humphreys" They are really little and you just put them in your babies mouth. They dissolve almost instantly and they seemed to help. If not you might try some good old tylenol to take the edge off.

I know this will sound realy wierd but my dad did it to my baby and it help cut up an onion and rub it on her gums it will numb them for a while and i swear it helps. It sounds like cruel and unusual punishment but it has worked on three of my girls

Hi K., sounds like your little one could be teething. Some will probably tell you she's too young. People told me the same thing. Even our doctor. My daughter was doing that at 2 months. Well at 3 1/2 months she got 2 bottom teeth! At that age its hard for them to hold something in their mouth and like you said their attention span isn't that long. So we used the teething tablets and the cold washcloth ect. The orajel only worked a few times, Dr suggested tylenol which seemed to work. Also we rubbed Peach Snopps on her gums :) That seemed to work the best actually. Its not like we gave her any amount for her to drink or anything, lol but just rubbed in on her gums and she slept really well. I used that on my first daughter. I did like the above response about the benadryl. So hopefully this will help, good luck.

My 9-month old is the same way, if the humphry's don't work usually the baby Tylenol or Motrin does... you should really speak with your pediatric doctor to find out what exactly is wrong

There are teething pellets called Humphreys..you can buy them at walgreens. They dissolve in water and or you can put them under her tounge and let them dissolve. They work great.

My son is six months and that seems to be teething, just from what I have seen with him. How do her gums look/feel. Do you see any swelling, change in color?
I have tried as much as I could it seems and I will be honest, not a whole lot has worked for us, but each child is different. Tylenol didn't seem to work, but Motrin kind of does. I have used Hylands teething tablets and they seem to work okay, but don't last too long for him. I also have used the oragel and the regular strength really doesn't help too much, but the nightime is okay.
How do warm things work for her vs cold? I also bought a vibrating rattle and he really seems to like it, but I have to hold it for him, which is kind of a pain at times. :)
I just bought Humphrey's 3 and it seems to help him out, but you have to dissolve it in water, they aren't the quickly dissolving like Hyland's.

I have 2 kids a 5yr old daughter and a almost 3yr old son. My daughter was pretty easy during teething but my son was a bear! I found that ora gel didn't work for either of my kids. A friend gave me a suggest that worked pretty good. Get a washcloth and tie it in a knot or something and get half of it wet, then put it in the freezer. When its frozen give it to her she can hold it and chew on it. Since the whole thing isn't wet it isn't cold at the bottom.
Beside that it just alot of patience. Sometimes the kids like it when you rub on their gums.

My now three year old daughter started teething when she was 4 months old. my dr told me to give her some baby tylenol or motrin beccause it will last longer than the orajel. But make sure you talk to your doc about it at your next well baby visit because they will know exactly how much is enough for your baby.

My son just turned 4 mo yesterday and he has been doing alot of what you described as well as drooling. I took him to the doctor yesterday for his 4 month follow up and his doctor said he was starting to teeth. I went and bought some humphreys teething tablets and they seem to work as well as the baby orajel.

just remember every baby is different and she very well could be teething. try a cold wet wash cloth and let her hold it. i cut bagels in two and then froze them it gives a textured side to cut thier teeth on. tylenol worked for a while with my little girl and when it gets really bad i give her motrin it last longer. hope these work. good luck

when my son was teething i used the highland's homeopathic teething tablets. i also used them on my sister's kids and they seemed to work for them. good luck!!

All babies start teething at their own timing. If your daughter can have apples, there are these food net things, I think the brand is Munchin? If you freeze slices of apple and put one in the net, she can naw on it until it turns mushy then suck the juice out of it and get a snack at the same time! You might want to try freezing washclothes doused in water, or teething tablets. They are homeopathic and get into the gums instead of just on the surface, and they can be found at any store. Do you give your daughter a binky? If so, try putting the binky, nipple down, on top of an ice cube, or something really cold to get the nipple part cold. Then give it to her. I had success with my son with that. Also, do you know about Thrush? Check the roof of her mouth to see if there is a white film build up on there. If so, this is very painful for babies. If so, then take her to her doctor. They will assess her, and probably give her an RX of some Nystatin Liquid. My son took this and it healed up pretty quickly. If there is no white film on the roof of her mouth, then you can bet it's just teething and she's cranky...which comes with it. LOL Also she will be feverish sometimes while teething. MOTRIN is great while babies are teething. Call your pediatrician for the right dosage for your little one. Does she drool a lot? That's another sign of teething. Biting things, putting her hands in her mouth, drooling, a little fever are all signs of teething. I hope this helps. :-) ALways looking for a new friend! Try freezing a washcloth. That could help her if she wants to put more in her mouth, plus its not as cold as just ice cubes.

Its Jenny, you know I think my daughter is going thru the same thing...Shes been drooling really bad lately and sticking her hands in her mouth with this painful look on her face. My sister said with her kids, she would get baby benadryl and she would dip her finger in the bottle and just rub it on their gums... I have been doing it and it seems to be working pretty good. Babies will feel the pain of a tooth coming in before it actually breaks thru, so she may or may not be teething but you can always try the benadryl.

I have an 8 month old who has not yet broke one toothe. She is my last of four and honey let me tell you. It may or may not be teething but I do know they learn to smell & taste at that age and no matter what, everything goes into the mouth and still at 8 mos. For teething though, some other things you can do are put a metal spoon in freezer and put on gumms or a wet wash cloth %& let them gnaw on that. I have used the teething tablets sold in any drug store and best of all, motrin. I hope i helped a little and good luck and hange in there. This too shall pass.

Instead of trying to hold ice cubes to her gums, just take one of her teething rings, put it in the freezer for a while to get it cold and then let her have it. Ask your doc, but giving a little bit of Infant Tylenol helps with the pain too. Our doc said that the mouth gels really don't work because there is so much saliva that it washes away. As far as putting pellets in her mouth, she does not have proper swallowing reflexes at that age, so I would be hesitant to use those. Depending on how quickly they dissolve, they could be a potential choking hazard.

It could be possible that your baby is going through some pain. Take her to see her pediatrician so he can prescribe her some medicine to help ease her pain. Also, it might be posible that the cold ice cubes are painful to her also. I wish you the best.

It is possible that she is teething. My son started teething at 3 months and had his first tooth at 4 months. I used Humphery's 3. Its a homeopathic remedy and you can get it at any pharmacy. Just ask the pharmacist, they keep it behind the counter. The bottle says that you have to dissolve it in water but when I talked to my sons doctor about it he said just to give him 1 tablet in his mouth and let him suck on it.
