I had one with my first pregnancy and have nothing but positive things to say about it. I would highly recommend it! It's just so cool to see things you can't see with the other type.
I have never done this before and was just making sure that it is just as safe as the normal ultrasound. Has anyone in this site ever experienced this type of ultrasound before?

Last year when I was pregnant with my son I wanted to get the 3D/ 4D done so bad but my husbands stepdad who is a RN for Kaiser simply stated... "Don't use our baby as a guinea pig" He didn't go any further than that but he's in the medical field I'm not so... I listened! Something to think about!
Hi S.! The ultrasound tech did a 3D picture on our last ultrasound. She simply switched the view on us! The wand (?) never moved on my belly, she just simply changed the way the ultrasound machine saw it!
Good luck to you and congratulations :)
i had it done with both of my daughters. it's done just like a regular ultra sound, you wouldn't notice any difference from the equipment they use.
someone recommended getting the dvd, i would definitely do that. and get the pictures on a cd instead of buying a lot of prints from them. you can get as many prints as you want by taking that to your local photo store or uploading them to any of the photo websites. :)
have fun!
I had one for my 4th-n-final child. AMAZING!! The lady said, "Oh, it's a little boy you guys!" and we replied, "Well, yeah, uh-huh, only see, we only make girls? Because we have three (3) girls, and ergo we probably aren't having a OHMYGOODNESS, it really IS a boy!" :)
It was awesome. And when he was born, I really did recognize the little person I had seen before. Who was perfectly healthy, no extra eyes or anything. ;-)
They are perfectly safe. I had one done with my daughter and it is so amazing I recommend it to all expecting moms, I am going to do it with my second one as well when I get far enough along.
My husband and I had one done for my second daughter. They were new to our area at the time, and we were not sure either. We were assured they are safe, and let me tell you- it is incredible! To see your little one as she/he truly is before birth is miraculous! I have only one bit of advice-- Be sure to drink a soda or orange juice or eat something very sweet right before you begin. My little one decided to sleep for most of the hour long experience and the tech. had to push my tummy around to nudge her awake!! heheh The sugars will wake your baby up and you'll get more movement, creating photos and video that'll be cherished forever!
Have fun and know that they are as safe as a traditional ultrasound!

yes, it is totally safe, in fact they send all "high-risk" pregnancies to have one done at around 20 weeks so that they can take a more detailed look at all of the organs. The only reason I know this is b/c my ob just routinely sent ALL of her patients to this place to have their 20 week ultrasound done and we got the bonus of seeing it in 3-D (though it was a little odd since the baby didn't have any fat yet). The tech. told us that the majority of ppl they see there are there are high risk for birth defects etc. We were able to come back to the same place to get another one when it was time (of course we had to pay this time). Have fun and make sure you get a video or dvd! :)
My coworker just had hers done and she was very impressed w/the staff in Roseville. I'm not sure of what the risks are but I'm sure that they can easily be found on the internet. I know other women at work who have done the these ultrasounds and have had perfectly healthy babies.
I agree w/ the mommy below. .this is definitely worth the money!! It is amazing to look at the pics they give you then the "finished product", they look sooo alike.
I did a ton of research before having one with both of my daughters (have a 2 year old and 5 month old) and it's as safe as a normal ultrasound.
Have fun & Enjoy, congrats on the new bundle!!
I had them with 2 of my 3 kids. The first was for fun and the 2nd time was medical reasons. To much x-ray/ultrasound can be bad for anyone, but the ones they do for pregnancy are fine. They're great fun too!
The 3D/4D ultrasound is so cool, you can actually see what your baby looks like. It costs much more for this since it it a special ultrasound, my Dr. charged $200. And yes it is as safe as the normal ultrasound.
Good Luck!!
