M.,
When my duaghter turned three, we had a pirate birthday party for her. She also loves Dora, so you can tie in the pirate theme with maybe Dora's pirate adventure. i had the party at a wonderful park in Green (boettler park) That has a HUGE playground, for kids of all ages, so noone was really bored. Thay also have basketball courts, tennis courts, and a small pond that is across the park, where people can fish if they want. It was really fun!

Ok, I too am planning a 3rd birthday with several older kids...4 to 9 years in age. I arranged it at her gymnastics classes called flip-n-twist. Our theme is Buzz Lightyear space ranger training camp. The teachers take them for an hour to due gymnastics and the last half hour is for cake and presents. She too loves dora and diego and I consider going that direction..with maybe three tasks/games for prizes with final being the biggest and something involving her birthday or finding a special present for her something big or a beauty necklace. Maybe have them dance at the end like dora. Watching a few episodes should give you some games to work with. Break the kids into teams with one young one and one older one on each team. The teams could be named after the characters in the show. If you had a large enough house you could do it at your own home. Before I was a SAHM, I planned parties...sorry if I'm going on a bit but I thought my ideas were good but she picked Buzz so now I'm thinking space everything...etc. Hope my ideas work for you.

For my daughter's (which every kid was older than her) we made Dora maps for a scavenger hunt. The map would show different places they had to go to to get the next clue, with their goodie bags being at the end of the hunt as their treasure. The older the child, the more "steps" they had to go through in order to get to the end of theirs. I did it by their age. The 3 year olds had 3 different stations they had to go to, the 7 year olds had 7, the 10 year olds had 10... You can print a map coloring page on the Nickelodeon Dora site under coloring pages in activities. We also did a Dora pinata (making it go up and down for the older kids to make it harder). Also, you could have an adult wear a bandana and be "Swiper" that tries to come and steal all of their goodie bags and they have a blast trying to chase him away while screaming (of course ;) "Swiper No Swiping!!!" Have fun! Message me if ya need any other ideas!!!

Try the Nick Jr. web sight, there are good, free ideas. We had a Dora party last year for my 2 year old, the 4 -6 year olds still had a great time.

try a dora scavenger hunt. have some items easy to find for the younger children and some harder to find for older children. they will feel like they are having an adventure.

i actually just had a party for a 3 year old and i know how hard it is to find games for there age plus that will work with older kids. a pinata is always nice, which can be purchased at a dollar tree for a 1.00. another game i found to be pretty good was, you put a picture or door hanging of dora on a wall or something and mark a spot for each kid to stand one at a time, take a balloon and let the older kids blow theres up, you will have to help the younger ones. then from the spot you marked tell them to let it go. whoever is closest to dora wins. you can play a couple times or just once.
