I want to plan a small birthday party for my daughter who will be turning 2 in June. It would only be for maybe 10 people with just a few kids. Last year I had her 1st birthday at a local park and it was just way to hot in mid June.

Does anyone have any suggestions for something inexpensive and yet fun for a 2 year old? And please don't say Chucky Cheese - I am so not into that place. I live in the Clearwater/Largo area and don't mind traveling a lit, but not too far.

Thanks!
T.

Hi T.,

Congratulations! I had my daughters 2nd birthday party last weekend!

We had about 25 people over with kids ranging from babies to 12 yo. We actually got a swingset for our daughter for her birthday but also hired a jumping castle and set it up in the backyard- it was a great hit, the kids loved it and the adults got to relax watching them whilst my husband cooked on the grill.

I dont know if it is much help but I got a lot of positive feedback from our guests and everyone had a great relaxing time.

What ever you decide, dont let it drive you crazy (It nearly did me!) because by mid-afternoon my 2 year old had enough of all the hoop-la and went to bed! TWO YEAR OLDS!!

I just went to a birthday party at Playtime Express. All of the kids had a blast! I thought it was a great party place.

I had my son's a an indoor play area because of the heat and unpredictable weather, his bday is in the worst part of hurricane season :). His was at Play Time Express in St. Pete. I believe it was $175 or $150 which included, a really nice cake, paper products, juice, balloons, circle time and a story. It's a small closed in play area that is perfect for toddlers up to 6 years of age. Parents can visit with out loosing sight of thier children. www.playtimeexpress.com. I have also been to a toddler's bday at the Ultimate Party Play Zone about the same price, with products supplied, etc, however they have a much bigger play area with HUGE blow ups. It's great fun for young and old alike. The adults climbed up these huge bounce things and slide down the slides. We moaned when they said to was time to stop and go eat cake. :) If you are in Tampa try checking out Gymboree another great fun place for toddlers, it's indoors, colorful and they do a fantastic job with the kids. Good Luck! P.S. since my son's second party I have toned it down and enjoyed it more. His 3rd party I asked him what he wanted. He said he wanted the party to be at home. He picked 3 friends to invite. He told me he wanted cake and party hats that's it. I splurged on some extra times like goodie bags, ballons, and a $20 wall mural of the CARS. I made the cake and he LOVED it! I enjoyed it more too as it was much more enjoyable to watch him with his best friends then a huge group of kids running around. The three mothers hearts melted when they all sat together at the table , sang happy birthday, and ate cake. It's hard to believe but it was a moving moment. So sometimes simple is best, especially when it come to the small guys. This year he wants to have the party in his bedroom! I am trying to figure that one out :)
