I'm 38wks pregnant with baby #2.

SO I was curious...
I know that most of the time you hear that the 1st pregnancy is usually the one that is the hardest, the longest labor, and baby is usually late. Then you hear that the 2nd, 3rd, and so on get quicker & easier.

In your mommy expierience, is that true?
How many of you awesome mommies had a 2nd, 3rd etc child that came earlier than their due date, labor was quicker etc???

I should mention too that My 1st son was almost 2 wks late. But from First contraction to birth it only took 4 1/2 hours, with only bout 30min of actual pushing. So if it's true than WOOOOO haha

What can I do next?

For me, yes that is true!

I was pushing for over 3 hours with my first and I needed several stitches.

I was induced with my second...but I literally pushed 2-3 times and he was out. 1 stitch!

My OB put it best "Your first paves the way for the rest"!

Good luck mama! I hope you have a quick, easy and uneventful labor and delivery!

Well, for me it was true and not true. My first was 11 days late and via C-section. #2 was 2 days late via VBAC but in labor for over 24 hrs. Then #3 was 5 days early and only 8 hrs of labor. #4- 8 days early and 4 hrs of labor. #5 was 2 days early, #6 was 10 days early but then #7 was 2 days late and a lot of hard pushing to get him to come. I think that the more you have the easier it gets, but that all depends on the baby too. My #7 was transverse until 38 wks and then he never really decended much so I really had to work to push him out. But the rest were head down for most of the pregnancy (except #1 who was also breech but had c-section) and then firmly engaged and it was only a few pushes and they were here. Because of this saying I was actually prepared to be meeting #7 10+ days before my due date and not 2 days after. Good luck!

I have three children #1 came on her due date easy total 3hr delivery girl. #2 one week early not hard but a 12 hour labor delivery boy. #3 four weeks early from the time I started labor and delivered was 1.5 hours she was fine and came home the next day with me. She was also 6.5 pounds I can not thing about how big she would have been if I had gone 40weeks. Both of my other children were 7 lbs. The time between #2 and #3 was only 14 months so that may have had something to do with it also. #1 and #2 was three years and I was in much better shape with #1 I stayed active during the whole pregnancy and worked out.

Hi ChicagoV,

First, congratulations on baby #2. May the labor be easy and everyone happy and well.

Baby 1: 17 days early 13 hr. labor with a forceps delivery due to fetal distress. Everyone was fine.

Baby 2: EXACTLY the same scenario.

Baby 3: Induced 5 days early, 12 hr. labor pushed for about 2 pushes.

Baby 4: 3 weeks early, 12 hrs. labor pushed 3 times

Baby 5: Induced 2 weeks early, 7 hours labor, pushed 2 times.

The pushing is way easier after the first one. My deliveries were longer because with each one it took a long time for my contractions to get steady and even. I would have two back to back and not have another for 4 minutes. Then I would have 2 more back to back. But once they got even it was literally a matter of minutes.

My second baby was nearly 2 weeks late, but the labor was fast. I had him withing 20 minutes of getting to the hospital. My 3rd baby was even later and while I was being induced, the dr had to perform an emergency c-section. There was something wrong with the placenta, he turned out fine though. My fourth baby was delievered 1 week early via planned c-section.

Of my fourth kids, I think the 2nd was the easiest. It was fast but the recovery was much better. And he was the biggest I had.

Hi
Congrats! I think every pregnancy is different. I too am pregnant but with our 3rd & I have 2 boys. Both pregnancies I was induced (ouch) but the second was sooo much faster. I was in labor 18hrs & pushed for 2 1/2 hrs the 1st time & the 2nd time 6hrs total!!!! I didnt even get the epidural the second time around it was so fast! Now with the third I hope to not get induced & things go quickly but who knows??? Goood Luck & hope you have a healthy delivery!!!
