I'm guessing it's the iron he's not liking. Try a different formula of the Flintstone vitamins. Maybe the Flintstone Complete? You can use foods to increase his iron. Just my thoughts. My daughter takes the chewables just fine.
Hi there
My almost 2 year old son will not take vitamins. I have tried polyvisol that he spits out immediately. Even when I mix it in w/food, he won't eat the food. I think he's sensitive to the "vitamin" taste. I have also tried the Flintstone chewables which he spits out right away. I have been trying to give him vitamins since he was 6 months old. Does anyone know a brand that is not so strong w/the "vitamin" taste? He really doesn't like to chew vitamins or chewable candy for that matter unless it is extremely soft like the Gerber chewable candy. I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks.

Hi N. -
My 3 year old takes Disney Gummy Vitamins, same size and texture as the Gerber chewable candy you referred to. She likes them so much that I tried them one day to see what they tasted like. :) It didn't taste like a vitamin at all, just a gummy candy! Anyway, this has worked for my daughter, she takes her vitamins no problem.
We use Nutristart's vitamin powder for kids. I usually mix it in applesauce or yogurt and my son has no problems eating it and he's extremely! picky.

I'm gonna 2nd the gummy's. My son is a picky eater & I was able to get him to take the gummy vitamins. I haven't tried them personally, but he likes them.
I had the same trouble with my oldest son and the Polyvisol that his ped. recommended. I knew it smelled bad but decided to taste it myself. It was the most FOUL tasting stuff I had ever tasted! No wonder why he refused it, even if i tried to sneak it in his juice! My younger ones will take nearly any variety of the gummie type. For the iron, try increasing the foods that are high in iron. If he likes salad, put raw spinach leaves in it, things like that. Good Luck!
