2 Year Old Is off the Walls

Lately it seems as if my 2 1/2 year old is bouncing off the walls. He's constantly running around, goofing around, can't sit still. He's always got something to say and I don't think he stops talking or laughing (screeching is more like it). Is this a product of the "terrible twos" or should we prepare ourselves for a challenging child?

What can I do next?

It is definately age. Everything Gavin is doing is very age appropriate (and BOY apprpriate!). He is learning about his world and probaly testing boundaries. I recently read a very good book that I recommend even to people with "normal" kids: "From difficult to delightful in just 30 days: How to improve the behavior of your spirited child" by Jacob Azerrad. I was reading it in regard to my strong-willed 4 year old son. However, I use the advice on my 2 year old son, who is a pure delight, but doing the same age appropriate things as Gavin. It has reinforced his kindness and good manners.(I also use the ideas with my 10 year old daughter.)
You'll be fine. You can do it!

What kinds of foods is he eating? Has his diet changed?
If so, it could be related to that?..

But I'm guessing it's just the age. My oldest is almost 3 and he's been acting just like your describing for your son, for a while. Of course, it's always twice as bad on the "special occasions" where we allow candy or cake -- because of the extra sugar.

I'm sure it's just age! My daughter just turned 2 and her energy level has definitely increased over the past month or two!! She too has been off the wall some days, is hard to calm down, and drives me crazy!! I'm currently 31 weeks pregnant and my daughter exhausts me! I am NOT however worried that she'll be ADD/ADHD or anything like that. She's exploring her world and boundaries. Her vocabulary is growing every day and she likes to talk non-stop to try out her new words. She also learns a new skill almost every day and I think that's why she's so active...she's got to test out everything she learns!

Our 2 1/2 year old is the same way. But I think it has more to do with the new baby. We also have a new baby but ours is 4 months now. She was way more hyper at the beginning and has gotten a little better. It gets really bad when she is overly tired. But I think it is just the age. He is probably just trying to get your attention. She gets especially more hyper when I am feeding him. So I think once he adjusts more to the baby he will settle a bit.
