Any suggestions on throwing a 2 year old birthday party in the Fall? My daughters birthday is on Oct 1st and I want to have her something nice, but not too expensive of course, she barely will remember it. :-)

With that age, simplicity is the key. We've been to several 2 year old birthdays over the years between my 3 kids and one of the most successful ones was very simple. The mom just invited a few little "friends" over and they basically had a play date. She had a bunch of helium balloons for the kids to take home (probably had a few extra) and some birthday cake. Her daughter was thrilled; the guests were thrill and there were no tears.

Try the Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch. They open every year on October 1st and I always see families having birthday parties there. www.flowermoundpumpkinpatch.com
Good luck!

At 2, the party is really for the parents - they are the only ones who will remember or care at all what the theme is or what the cake looks like. Have a few of your friends over who will enjoy oogling over your little one opening presents and chowing down on cake, and letting her be the center of a attention for a while. She can have fun with all the attention and maybe a couple of little friends having fun blowing bubbles. She doesn't know it's a "special day" and may be more confused than anythign by a big chaotic day!

I'd let you be led by DD's personality. We just had our DD's second b-day party last weekend, and kept it SUPER low-key--2 friends + her, cake and ice cream, sidewalk chalk and bubbles. Seriously, at that age you don't want to try to force a kid to sit still for a show, or participate in organized games--it's supposed to be HER party, no? My DD LOVED the cake, LOVED the singing, and I know from experience that she would have been freaked out by too many people or a new, overwhelming place. Keep your kid in mind, and keep it within her comfort zone. GL!

If you get a "live" entertainer I would recommend a NON clown that does a puppet show for the kids with music and funny stuff. Hanky the Clown (out of makeup and dressed as "Jolly") is the best I have seen. Contact: http://www.dfwfunnybusiness.com It will cost you about $185 for an hour of entertainment.

Hi B., my girlfriend threw a picnic style party for her 2 yr old son at a park. The invites and party favors were both so cute, she used a bandana theme and just cut up cardstock w/ info on it and rolled it up w/ some rope and for the party favors the same concept she bought red bandanas stuffed w/ just some plasticky toys (I'd subsitute for animal crackers or goldfish-more suitable for the age and even cheaper too) and then rolled them up w/ rope and attached a note of thanks! Too cute and perfect for the fall. Fall is a tricky time w/ weather though, my advice would be to look for a park w/ a covered pavillion and restrooms closeby, since they're so young you may want a walking trail too that could be fun to all catch up and get exercise. You could even do this theme at your house and use your backyard or if you have it a neighborhood park as plan A and then if weather doesn't permit your house as Plan B. Cheap and too sweet! Best of luck!

We had my daughter's 2 year party at Gymboree in Plano, at Parker and Independence. It was a blast - she loved it - and it was super easy for me (with no cleaning the house before or after!). :)

We had a birthday party for our son at the little Gym-it was great, but what a waste. At 2 they are sooo unpredictable. He didn't get a good enough nap and was miserable for most of the party. He had the most fun at home afterwards playing with his cousins in the house-that was the real party for him. I would suggest having it at your home, keeping it simple for the kids, and nice for the grown ups.
