2 Periods in One Month? - West Palm Beach,FL

I had my baby about 8 weeks ago. I guess you could say that I was one of the unlucky ones who got their period only 6 weeks after delivery even with exclusive breastfeeding. One week after my period ended, I got my period again. Is this normal? This is my first baby. This time I have minor cramping (like I normally would with a period) and it is heavier than it was prior to pregnancy.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Actually, I did forget to mention birthcontrol. I am on the mini pill. I started taking it at the end of my first period this month. If this is breakthrough bleeding, hopefully it stops. My midwife did mention other forms of hormonal contraception if I had problems with this one. I am very diligent about taking it everyday at the same time.

If you truly are on a 28 day cycle then you should have 13.0257 periods per year.

There should be 1-2 months of the year that you have 2.

kudos to you for E Breastfeeding!!!!!!!!! way to go mamma. I agree with the breakthrough bleeding. It sucks. One of the awesome things about being preggers is no period so I know how u feel. Enjoy that baby :)

I'm assuming your not on any BC or you would've mentioned it but if you happen to be on the Mini-pill... I had quite a bit of breakthrough bleeding, on it. Probably , doesn't apply but easier to just respond .

If it worries you, call your Dr. and inquire. But in all honesty, our hormones are WHACK after giving birth. Pretty much anything is probably possible. Even if it is the pill, (whether mini or otherwise) it could take a few cycles before everything calms down.
Sorry, I know it is a nuisance. When I am not on the pill, my cycle has always been erratic. 12 days between. 37 days between. 22 days between. There was never any telling what was going to happen. And when I was off of it trying for #2 it seemed that THAT was when I had the longer cycles... we're talking 42 days sometimes. When I wasn't trying (like in college years) I might have it every 3rd week. So I became a regular pill taker. Even when I wasn't sexually active.

I did the same thing! My doctor just said I had ovaries of iron! She was not worried about it. After my second son I did not get one for 4 months.... kind of made up for the first one! And I was exclusively bf too! Enough for a football team! lol.
