An untreated infection is far more dangerous to your baby than a round of antibiotics - id take them and follow up with your OB on Monday morning.

Honestly in my opinion i would not take any medicines. Sometimes doctors think.."Oh meds will help everything." I am having pelvic pain now and i am soon to have my child, i think it's normal in pregnancy..it's just where the child is getting lower into the birth canal. I recomend you go back to the doctor and talk to them about it...I do not think you should be taking them meds... unless you go back and they tell you it's an infection or something you NEED to be taking them for.

Good Luck!

Did you give a urine sample? (usually standard procedure) If so, the doctor knows you have an infection but might not know exactly the type of infection.

Take the antibiotics and eat yogurt (so you don't get a yeast infection). The doctor would not have prescribed something that is going to cause any harm to your unborn child. The most common antibiotics are perfectly safe during pregnancy, and really, antibiotics are incredibly safe to take.

Jennifer T is correct. An untreated infection is far more serious than unnecessary antibiotics.

Without a urine test, a UTI cannot be diagnosed properly. Many antibiotics are not safe in pregnancy or have not been tested, so weigh your benefits vs. the risks before blindly doing anything.

Here's some more info on pelvic pain and since the bladder is located just above the public bone, many male doctors don't know what it feels like to be pregnant....obviously. It's like me being an erectile dysfunction doctor and patting the guy on the back and telling him it's his age. Men do the same thing to pregnant women. Pisses me off.
