I'd just wait for his next dirty diaper and see how it looks. If you have another real pale stool it would probably warrant a trip to the doc.
We just changed my son's diaper and his poop was whitish/a little grayish. he is acting normally and has no fever, but I know it's not normal, for his stools to be that way. I am currently waiting for a nurse at his Dr.s office, to return my call. Hopefully, it won't take long. Have any of you mamas experienced this, with your children? What was the cause? He has never been sick before, so this is very worrisome for me!
**To answer some questions, he has not eaten anything out of the ordinary. He is 17 months old, so it's possible he got something he's not supposed to. Generally, we watch him like a hawk, because he is into every single thing. He is active and playful, no fever, and eating and drinking well.
We just changed his diaper again, because he was still pooping last time we changed him. His stools were dark gray this time.
My son was fine, thanks everyone! The Dr. said he either ate something weird, or his immune system fought whatever it was. He never seemed to feel bad and has been great!

You should have him evaluated by a doctor right away. There are a number of reasons why your son may have white or grayish poop but only a doctor can tell you for sure what is going on. It is best not to take a wait-see approach to this. Best to speak with a nurse tonight about it and take him in tomorrow for a sick kid visit.
Hope your son feels better soon.
First, my question is what has he recently eaten?
(my ex ate turquiose coloured eyeshaddow as a baby and that is the exact colour that came out the other end).
My second response is to take him in to the pediatrician to make sure everything is ok. Clay coloured stools are generally something you want to have checked out to rule out some medical possibilities. Does he have any other symtoms?
Do not freak out. You did good by calling the advice nurse. Just seek some medical attention. Keep us updated.
have you geven him any gum by chance? or did he get into yours on his own? My daughter got into my gum once and ate 48 peices. she was fine, but it turned her poop a really weird grayish minty green color!
Yes, all week with my 15-month old. It will be white if he is sick.
The bothersome part is it's been a week!
Hope yours recovers faster. I don't think it's super serious, but still...better safe than sorry.
Is it an odd odor as well? The few times my son has had whitish stools it has been due a stomach B.. Giving him only Pedialyte for 24-48 hours always works for us.
May have a stomach B.. But good that you called your doctor..
Pale stools usually indicate a problem with bile production, which helps digest fats. It can be a temporary situation as a result of certain infections. It can also be more serious. If his stools stay pale, contact your advice nurse or make an appointment for his doc to check him out.
