Hi A.,
Boy does this sound familiar. My 18 month old started taking his first steps at 15 months. He seemed to really enjoy it and walked all over that first day. He then gave up on it completely and would only occasionally walk behind push toys and holding onto our hands. Over time, he wanted to walk all the time, but ONLY while holding onto our hands! I actually posted on here at that point because I was so frustrated with my seemingly stubborn child! Then, around 17 months, he just decided to "go for it," and he started walking everywhere. While he still LOVES to hold my hand and will often drop to the floor in protest when I let go, he rarely uses crawling as a form of transportation. You have nothing to worry about, except maybe a lack of patience with the process - that was me!! She'll be there soon. Some kids, like my little boy, are more cautious and like to have the whole thing mastered before trying again!! Good luck!
