It is June 13, my period was due like clockwork on May 31 and it never came. My boyfriend and I have been having unprotected sex for the entire month, so i thought for sure I must be pregnant...I took an HPT it was negative...2 days later, a light positive. I began to feel nauseous when getting up too quickly, headaches alot and tired. I began lightly spotting last week and decided to take more HPTs...both were negative. My breasts are beginning to hurt and I am becoming increasingly moody and suddenly sex doesn't feel the same...so I took another HPT and still nothing. Is there a chance I could be pregnant? I have not taken any of the tests with morning urine...what are the chances this is producing the negative results?? Thanks for your insight mamas!
So I took a HPT yesterday as soon as i got up...it was positive!! I have an appointment with an OBGYN on the 29th to still get a blood test and be examined, but thanks for all the great information ladies!!!
It sounds like hormones to me but you should have the blood test done to make sure.
I do know people who are pregnant with the home test being negative. I am talking someone took one when she was 7 mos pregnant. I would make an apt with the doc to be sure.
Number 1: Go to the doctor. Yes there is a chance you could be pregnant. Stress can also cause you to be late. I was recently 3 weeks late! Just about a completely skipped period. I was really nervous about it. But it turned out negative. First thing though, just get to a doc who will do a blood test to see if you are pregnant. By far, the most accurate.
Hello A.. I wanted to comment first that yes, you should take a HPT first thing in the morning (or whenever you get up after a good night's sleep). The second thing I wanted to say is that with my first two pregnancies, my urine tests were negative for three months into each pregnancy. I even still got my period. I knew I was pregnant both times but could not convince the lady at the doctor's office of that. She asked one day, during one of my weekly visits for a pg test with my second child, "Do you WANT to be pregnant???" and I said well, that's beside the point, I just know that I am. Sure enough, two weeks later it finally came back positive. She thought maybe I had just gotten pregnant but the ultrasound revealed that I was around 3 months already.
Additionally, the symptoms you are describing, sans the spotting, could be related to blood pressure, lack of sleep, or a plethora of things. I would have a blood test done to be sure, then rule out any of the above if it is still negative.
I have heard that a pregnancy test can give you a false negative, but will never give you a false positive. Definlty try a test in the morning or go to the doctors. Good Luck!
So many things can cause the symptoms you described. You should take the test with the first morning urine when the levels are more concentrated. A blood test should be the next step it may just be too soon to detect in the HPT. Good Luck!
If you can go to the doctor and get a blood test, that would be the best thing to do. It will show the exact level of the pregnancy hormone-if you are pregnant. The hormone is highest first thing in the morning, so try the hpt right when you wake up. Sounds like you're trying to get pregnant, so I hope you get the answer you want!
