Retta S. just send to another mom a amazing website that have all this rashes, what they are and when to call the doctor. I found 2 or 3 that sound like what you say, check on them.

Call the pedi and get in! I thought my baby just had a flu this weekend... ya know something simple, but it elivated. She went to the doc and we found out she had rotovirus. I freaked out!!! Just please take him to the pedi for a good look over!

When your baby runs a temp it can be followed by a rash. The rash should come on quick, look bad but start to resolve pretty quick as weel. It could last 2-3 days. Alot of parents will mistake this for an allergic reaction to antibiotics as well (if there child is prescribed an antibiotic). It is common. If your baby continues with a fever or the rash continues or your baby is scratching, consult your MD. As for the diarrhea, this is also a reaction to the baby having a fever. You really need to hydrate the baby to replace the fluid he is losing. Consult with you pediatricians nurse as to what it recommended, like pedialyte. It is so hard when your baby is sick and you are so anxious to help them feel better. Best of luck!!

Could it possibly be a heat rash? my 8 month old has also had diahhrea, caused by swallowing some pool water several days in a row.

Hi S.,

Could be a food allergy. Don't think it would be a cold. I'd take him to the pediatrician.

Good luck,
MD

... you need a 2nd opinion on your 'diagnosis' from the ER.
Gee, didn't they test him for rotovirus or anything else?
That is USUALLY what they do.

Next, make real sure, he does not get dehydrated.... that is a real danger with fever and diarrhea....

I would take him back to the Doctor.

Could be Roseola, though the pooping sounds like the virus that is going around in this neck of the woods (Massachusetts).

My son just had Roseola a month ago. I would bet it it that AND the bug that is around.

Poor kid! If you are breastfeeding him, that should protect him from dehydration.
