It is possible that the teething can cause low fever, and congestion along with the irritability. we use homeopathic supplements in our family and found that Chamomillia works wonders for teething and is perfectly safe for little ones.

As for the congestion, I agree with the poster about the steam bath and humidifier. You could also try some aromotherapy with Eucalyptis oil. (it's the natural base for Vicks Vapor rub)

Poor girlie!
With our daughter, we ended up just letting it be gross and runny, cleaning her up at longer intervals (like once an hour or less if really gross) with a warm, damp cloth diaper or soft washcloth. Of course you keep rinsing it out, but this is so much softer than kleenex.
Hope she's better soon!

my daughter got a fever and runny nose with almost every single tooth ( got better with the later teeth) she got her teeth out of order ( second tooth was a molar) witht that one she would have so much mucus that when she woke up to nurse in the middle of the night she would gag and vomit her dinner every single night for 10 days while it was coming out. as sooon as the tooth was out she would be back to normal. Now if your child had thick colored snot I would not think that was teething as hers was always clear

Hey there - I totally understand, and it's the worst when the babies are sick. My 9 month-old is sick right now, and so is her 3 year-old brother. :( There's not much else you can do...my baby also doesn't love the bulb syringe, but at least she lets me do it. My first was like your baby, I could never use it on him because he would just flip out if I even tried. It does seem like a warm bath helps to get some of the gunk out. Before her bath, run the shower really warm for a few minutes to get the bathroom nice & steamy, then run her bath so that you're in the steamy bathroom during her bath. Also I'd run a water-only humidifier in her room at night. Otherwise it pretty much has to run its course. No, I don't think it's related to teething, I think she has a cold. HOWEVER, since she also has a fever, I'd definitely make an appt to get into the doctor tomorrow and make sure she doesn't have an ear infection or anything in her chest.

Good luck & don't worry, she'll get over it!
